Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose has emerged as Barcelona‘s top target as they seek an emergency signing.
AS says Barca are ready to act after losing Ousmane Dembele for the season due to hamstring surgery. With Luis Suarez also sidelined until April, Barca only have Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann as recognised goalscorers.
As such, Barca are ready to take up the option to sign an emergency replacement striker – with Jose the favourite to make the move. Rodrigo Moreno has also been mentioned, but after last week’s failed attempt before the market shut it’s unlikely Valencia will be interested in returning to the negotiating table. Barca can only buy players from within LaLiga.
Barca sports chief Eric Abidal had a deal in place last week for Beijing Gouan striker Cedric Bakambu, but it was vetoed by president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
