Liverpool players dominate UEFA’s Fans Team of the Year

Liverpool players have dominated UEFA’s Fans Team of the Year vote.

Liverpool enjoyed a stellar year in 2019 as they won the Champions League and Club World Cup – and their players have continued to receive the plaudits for their efforts.

Sadio Mane was named African Player of the Year with Mohamed Salah runner-up, while Virgil van Dijk finished as runner-up to Lionel Messi in both the Ballon d’Or and FIFA’s The Best.

And now five of Jurgen Klopp‘s men have taken their place in the UEFA Fans’ Team of the Year alongside Europe’s best talents.

Alisson is between the posts having also been named FIFA’s The Best Goalkeeper and winner of the Yashin Trophy, reports the Mirror.

Liverpool also provide the backbone of the defence, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson all selected alongside Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt, who was one of the Ajax‘s bright young things last term.

Sadio Mane is the fifth of Jurgen Klopp‘s men to feature, lining up in a midfield that also contains Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City and Barcelona pair Lionel Messi and Frenkie De Jong.

Up top, Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski and Juventus‘ Crisitano Ronaldo lead the line after picking up plenty of votes from football fans from across Europe.
