Raiola mocks Barcelona over De Ligt Juventus move

Agent Mino Raiola has taken aim at Barcelona over Matthijs de Ligt’s move to Juventus.

The Dutch defender chose to move to Juventus over the Catalan club despite his Ajax teammate Frenkie de Jong moving to the Camp Nou.

“For many Dutch people, Barcelona isn’t a foreign club, but a Dutch club,” Raiola told Voetbal International.

“Matthijs should have gone there for the strength, however it wasn’t like this and it was almost a type of sacrifice.

Barcelona thought, he was like cheese. He’s Dutch like Frenkie and is at Ajax, so… if De Jong comes, he will too.

“The reasons [Barcelona] gave us to try to sign Matthijs were mistaken.

“Matthijs isn’t interested in money, he just wants to play football.

“He could’ve gone to Juve a year earlier, but Ajax had asked him to stay when he’d already made some agreements.

“[Juventus] was his first option, interest from other clubs like Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain surprised him.”
