Barca B coach Javier García Pimienta has declared Carles Alena as the best player of his generation to come through the La Masia system.
The midfielder is expected to leave Barca in January over a lack of first team opportunities.
García Pimienta reasoned with Mundo Deportivo: “Look at Carles Aleñá, the best player of his generation since Benjamin. He doesn’t have the continuity I would like.
“He won playing in the first team, scored 12 goals in Segunda A two years ago, but has played little. But this is Barça…”
Asked about the emergence of Carles Perez, the coach admits he’s delighted for the winger.
He added: “He has had to work hard, has gone through some bad times both in the youth teams, as in Barça B. I am excited because he is a quiet player who does not stop working. And when things were not going well, I urged him to continue. The kid saw that he had our confidence and finished in the first team.
“It makes me very happy to have helped him with that.”
