47′ PENALTY TO MANCHESTER UNITED! Rashford skins Aurier down the left flank and he surges into the box. Sissoko gets back to try to stop his progress, but he puts in a clumsy challenge and brings down the forward.

46′ We’re back underway at Old Trafford.

1′ GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! RASHFORD HOLDS HIS COMPOSURE!!!! 2-1!!! The forward restores his side’s advantage with a calm strike from 12 yards. He places his effort in the bottom-right corner, sending Gazzaniga the wrong way. United have a perfect start to the second half.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be concerned heading into the second half. United were on top and had Tottenham on the ropes, but they allowed the visitors to work their way back into the game. The Red Devils conceded another soft goal, highlighting their recent defensive woes. Solskjaer needs to galvanise his team to get back in the ascendancy in the second half.

It’s all square at the break between Manchester United and Tottenham at Old Trafford. Marcus Rashford’s early strike put the home side ahead, but Dele Alli continued his resurgence under Jose Mourinho, scoring a fine goal to equalise before the interval. United paid the price for not being able to extend their advantage as Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Jesse Lingard all had opportunities. Spurs were barely in the contest, but were clinical in front of goal when they needed to be to get the leveller. Jose Mourinho will not have been happy with their first-half display, although he and Spurs will be pleased to head into the break with a foothold in the contest.

45′ + 3′ HALF-TIME: MANCHESTER UNITED 1-1 TOTTENHAM

45′ + 2′ Sanchez has to cover at the back to stop Rashford’s run, conceding a corner in the process. However, the visitors are able to clear their lines with ease from the set-piece.

45′ There will be two minutes of added time.

44′ Rashford gets a sore one in the ribs as he tries to latch on to Fred’s ball over the top. However, Gazzaniga is sharp off his line to make the intervention ahead of the forward. The United man appears to be okay after treatment.

43′ United’s propensity to concede goals has reared its head once again. That’s now six in their last three Premier League games.

41′ Alli has as many Premier League goals in three appearances under Mourinho as he managed in his final 17 appearances under Mauricio Pochettino (3).

D. Alli

Goal

Tottenham Hotspur

39′ GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! ALLI EQUALISES!!! 1-1!! Spurs are back in the game from their first foray into the United box as Alli scores a fine goal. He continues his excellent form as he latches on to a hanging ball in the box. The midfielder turns Fred with a neat flick before burying his strike from close range past De Gea on the angle. Superb from the England man. A VAR check confirms that he did not handle the ball in the process, much to the relief of Alli and his team.

36′ Spurs are trying to get into the game with a period of possession. However, there’s no intensity in their approach at the moment – Kane has been starved of service in the final third.

34′ Son and Aurier combine down the right flank once again, but on this occasion there’s no one there in the middle to attack the cross from the right-back.

32′ The visitors finally probe on the edge of the box. Son picks out Aurier in space, but the Ivorian sends his cross straight out for a goal-kick. That will not improve Mourinho’s mood.

30′ Tottenham are lacking cohesion in their play in the final third. Mourinho will not be happy with his side’s performance.

28′ WIDE! United are all over Spurs at the moment. Young threads a pass through to Lingard, but the midfielder bends his effort wide of the target. The home side have to make their dominance count here.

27′ SAVE! United keep the pressure on the Tottenham backline. They work the ball around the edge of the box before Lingard tees up Rashford to bend one towards the bottom-left corner. However, Gazzaniga gets across to turn it past the post.

25′ OFF THE BAR! Rashford collects in acres of space 25 yards from goal and unleashes a powerful strike on his right foot. It dips and a slight touch from the outstretched hand of Gazzaniga saves Spurs as the ball crashes off the bar and bounces to safety for the visitors.

23′ SAVE! Gazzaniga atones for his error with a good stop to deny Greenwood. James surges down the right flank and cuts the ball back for Lingard. The midfielder turns to tee up Greenwood for the strike. The teenager fires his effort low towards the net, but the Spurs keeper holds firm to send it behind for a corner.

21′ Tottenham are not offering a great deal in the final third at the moment. The visitors are struggling with the fluency of their movement to find space in the United half.

19′ Alli and Vertonghen combine down the left flank, but Wan-Bissaka is there to cover, diverting the Belgian’s cross out for a throw-in.

18′ WIDE! Rashford lines up the strike at goal and he wraps his right foot around the ball, firing towards the top-left corner. However, his attempt drifts just wide of the target.

17′ Fred takes the ball out of the air with a neat piece of control, but then gets fouled by a high boot from Sissoko. The referee awards a free-kick to the home side in a threatening position 25 yards from goal.

16′ James collects on the right flank and bursts past the challenge of Vertonghen, but Alderweireld is there to make the covering clearance.

15′ Manchester United are unbeaten in their last 137 home Premier League games when scoring first (W124 D13).

14′ James gets a full checkover from the United medical staff on the sideline before he returns to the pitch.

H. Winks

Yellow Card

Tottenham Hotspur

13′ Winks takes out James on the slide down the right flank. James takes a nasty fall on the sideline and collides into Mourinho, who receives the full blow of the winger’s head on his shin. Winks goes into the book for the challenge.

12′ OVER! Kane goes for a curling strike and he lifts his right-footed strike over the wall, but it keeps travelling at height, soaring over the bar.

11′ Fred brings down Kane on the edge of the box with a late challenge, handing Spurs a free-kick in a threatening position.

10′ Kane looks for a long ball behind the United defence for Lucas, but Young does well under pressure to nullify the threat of the Brazilian.

8′ Tottenham have to issue a response now. They’ve scored goals under Mourinho, but for the fourth game in a row they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet.

7′ Rashford has been involved in nine goals in his last 11 Premier League games (5 goals, 4 assists).

6′ GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! RASHFORD FIRES UNITED AHEAD!!! 1-0!!!! The striker beats Gazzaniga with a low strike towards the bottom-left corner to put the home side in the lead. Lingard does well down the left to win a battle with Sanchez. The ball finds Rashford in the left inside channel and he hammers his strike towards the corner. Gazzaniga gets down, but he can only turn it on to the post and the deflection strikes the inside of the woodwork and goes into the net.

5′ Rashford tries to get the better of Aurier down the left flank, but the defender holds firm for the visitors before clearing the danger.

3′ Alderweireld clips a ball over the top for the run of Son, but De Gea is out to gather ahead of the Spurs winger.

2′ United try to work the ball around the pitch in the early stages, but James sends his offload to Wan-Bissaka out of play.

Sissoko moves back alongside him as Lucas earns the start on the right flank. Ndombele makes way from the side to accomodate the Brazilian.

United have made four changes from their draw against Villa last time out. Anthony Martial misses out due to injury, which sees Greenwood come into the fold to lead the line. McTominay returns in the heart of the midfield, while Young also comes back into the side at left-back. Mata drops to the bench in favour of Lingard to support Greenwood, James and Rashford in the final third.

They’ve not been short on excitement either as his side have scored 10 goals, but have also conceded six in the process. Tottenham raced into a comfortable 3-0 lead against Bournemouth at the weekend, but they did concede late goals to the boot of Harry Wilson. A victory and a clean sheet will be on the agenda for the Portuguese on his return to Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho returns to Old Trafford almost 12 months removed from his sacking by United. The club’s fortunes have not shifted in a positive direction since, under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Red Devils are treading water in mid-table in the Premier League, having drawn their last two matches against Sheffield United and Aston Villa. There will be a determination from the United players this evening to get one over on their former manager and to ease the pressure on the current man in the dugout.

Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Manchester United and Tottenham at Old Trafford.
