LIVE: Mallorca vs Real Madrid

1′ Madrid kick off and get us underway.

The players are emerging from the tunnel and kick off is just seconds away!

Recent history underlines just how difficult the task will be for the home side today, though. Mallorca are winless in their last seven La Liga home games against Real Madrid, their worst home run without a win against them in the top-flight. Their last such win came back in February 2006!

Mallorca are unchanged from that victory over Espanyol, but they’re expected to move away from the 4-2-3-1 formation used that day and utilise a more compact shape instead. Madrid, on the other hand, are depleted by a spate of injuries accumulated over the international break and make seven changes – most notably, Bale, Hazard and Modric are absent. Nevertheless, they can count on a range of impressive replacements to send out an imposing side.

SUBS: Alphonse Areola, Raphael Varane, Rodrygo, Brahim Diaz, Federico Valverde, Ferland Mendy, Mariano.

REAL MADRID (4-3-3): Thibaud Courtois; Alvaro Odriozola, Eder Militao, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo; James Rodriguez, Casemeiro, Isco; Luka Jovic, Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior.

SUBS: Fabri, Takefusa Kubo, Marc Pedraza, Xisco Campos, Aleksandar Trajkovski, Abdon Prats, Lumor Agbenyenu.

MALLORCA (4-3-3): Manolo Reina; Joan Sastre, Martin Valjent, Antonio Raillo, Fran Gamez; Aleix Febas, Iddrisu Baba, Salva Sevilla; Dani Rodriguez, Ante Budimir, Lago Junior.

Hello and welcome to live commentary of this La Liga fixture between Real Mallorca and Real Madrid. The hosts enter this one sitting in 18th – and the relegation zone – but they collected a vital win at home to Espanyol last time out. Conversely, Madrid are second in the table, after Barcelona’s earlier 3-0 victory nudged the Catalan side ahead. The away side will be expected to collect a simple three points, but Mallorca will be quietly confident of at least holding them to a draw.
