The Sparrowhawks bow out of the regional tournament after losing on penalties following a goalless encounter in Thies

Ivory Coast progressed to the Wafu Cup of Nations semi-final after defeating Togo 4-2 on penalties on Saturday.

The pair couldn’t be separated in Thies, as the encounter at the Stade Lat Dior ended 0-0 after 90 minutes.

At the end of spot-kicks, Jean Paul Abalo’s side exited the tournament, while Maxime Gouamene’s Elephants advance to the last four.

Despite his nation’s defeat, Moise Kossivi was named Man of the Match for his performance against the victors.

The Championship semi-finals of the regional competition will now see Ivory Coast do battle with Ghana on Tuesday, October 8 for a place in the final.

The other semi-final will be contested between Senegal and Sierra Leone or Mali, who meet on Sunday.
