Muguna and Miheso strike to move Gor Mahia top of the KPL table

K’Ogalo’s win means they have maintained a 100% start to the league with three matches played and one game in hand

Gor Mahia have registered yet another Kenyan Premier League (KPL) win after dispatching Nzoia Sugar 2-0 at Mumias Sports Complex on Wednesday.

Captain Kenneth Muguna and winger Clifton Miheso were the scorers for the league’s heavyweights in Kakamega County.

Gor Mahia quickly settled in the game and by the 11th minute, they had gone ahead courtesy of Muguna’s strike. Nzoia Sugar who played defensively from the word go invited their visitors and K’Ogalo took the opportunity to create their first chance and score the opener.

Miheso added the second for the KPL champions in the 28th minute through a free-kick. Gor Mahia were the dominant side at this juncture of the game and it remained so until the first break. 

Nzoia Sugar got a penalty in the 55th minute after Maurice Ojwang handled the ball in his area. Collins Wakhungu could not successfully take the spot-kick as his shot hit the crossbar.

The afternoon showers could not deter the Green Army from making their intent of picking a win known.

Nzoia Sugar have won a game into the season after seeing off Kisumu All-Stars 2-0 in their previous league engagement. They have lost to Sony Sugar after they had drawn with Wazito in the opener.

Gor Mahia who have played three games now have won all of them after defeating Tusker and KCB previously.
