LIVE: Rangers vs Celtic

8′ Rangers make a quick break upfield and Jack plays a brilliant throughball to Defoe. He overhits it though and the forward can’t keep it in play to create a chance.

6′ Celtic are seeing a lot of the ball in the opening minutes of the game and are moving it upfield with a lot of pace. Johnston pulls away from his defender at the byline on the left, but his cross is blocked by Tavernier.

4′ Goldson tries to pick out Aribo by switching play out to the left. He just overhits the pass though and it sails over the forward’s head and straight out of play for a Celtic throw-in.

2′ Celtic take a free-kick short on the right wing and it’s passed to Christie. He cuts back inside to the edge of the box before curling his effort towards the top right corner, but his effort is just wide of the post.

1′ Defoe gets the game underway for Rangers!

The teams walking out onto the pitch now, with kick-off just moments away.

The side playing at home has won each of the last five Scottish Premiership Old Firm derbies (two Rangers wins, three Celtic), including all four last season.

Neil Lennon makes just two changes to the team that beat AIK in their Europa League play-off on Thursday. Forster replaces Gordon in goal while Elhamed comes in to replace the injured Kristoffer Ajer.

Gerrard makes three changes to the Rangers side that beat Legia Warsaw on Thursday by bringing Flanagan, Kamara and Defoe into the starting line-up. They replace Barisic, Morelos, who scored the winner in that match, and Ojo who all drop to the bench.

CELTIC SUBS: Craig Gordon, Oliver Ntcham, Jonny Hayes, Lewis Morgan, Moritz Bauer, Leigh Griffiths, Vakoun Issouf Bayo.

CELTIC STARTING XI (4-2-3-1): Fraser Forster; Hatem Elhamed, Christopher Jullien, Nir Bitton, Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo; Scott Brown, Callum McGregor; James Forrest, Ryan Christie, Michael Johnston; Odsonne Edouard.

RANGERS SUBS: Jordan Jones, Borna Barisic, Filip Helander, Andy King, Alfredo Morelos, Sheyi Ojo, Wes Foderingham.

RANGERS STARTING XI (4-3-2-1): Allan McGregor; James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Nikola Katic, Jon Flanagan; Ryan Jack, Steven Davies, Glen Kamara; Joe Aribo, Scott Arfield; Jermain Defoe.

Both Rangers and Celtic come into this game in impressive form, with both winning all three of their opening league games this season. Steven Gerrard’s side have looked defensively solid and have kept a clean sheet in their last four matches in all competitions, including their game on Thursday when they qualified for the Europa League. They face a Celtic side who are on a four-match winning run in all competitions and have scored 15 goals in the league already this campaign.
