Barcelona record breaker Ansu Fati thrilled to make winning debut

Barcelona teen Ansu Fati was thrilled to make his debut in their rout of Real Betis.

The 16 year-old forward made his first appearance for the first team, becoming the youngest player to do so since Vicente Martinez in 1941, while his opportunity came due to the injuries in attack, with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele all unavailable for the clash with Betis.

“The truth is that I was very nervous, but I only have words of thanks for everyone; the club, the coach, the fans, who have received me so well,” Fati told the club’s media.

“I looked to my parents, my family, those who have accompanied me to this point.

“I stayed there on the pitch because I couldn’t believe it, and now it’s time to enjoy the moment. I only have words of thanks.”
