Kylian Mbappe favoured to get on the scoresheet again for PSG in Rennes clash

The French champions are the heavy favourites to notch a second successive win in Ligue 1….

Having started the defence of their Ligue 1 crown with a 3-0 over Nimes at home, Paris Saint-Germain now make the tricky journey away to Rennes on Monday (00.30AM AEST) in game-week two.

While the cloud of a potential return back to La Liga continues to hover over the French champions, they are still the overwhelming favourites ($1.33) to make it two wins in two in the league.

Twenty-year-old sensation Kylian Mbappe was on song in the comprehensive win over Nimes with the Frenchman bagging a goal as well as an assist at the Paris. With Neymar set to be absent once again, Mbappe will be asked to step up again and the French youngster is good value ($3.75) to open the scoring against Rennes on Monday.

Summer signing Pablo Sarabia has already made an impact since his arrival from Sevilla and the Spaniard grabbed an assist in PSG’s Super Cup win over Rennes earlier this month.

The Spaniard banged in 23 goals for Sevilla across all competitions last season and he is decent value ($2.30) to get on the scoreboard for the first time in PSG colours on Monday.

It is PSG who have held the upper hand over Rennes in their five most recent encounters with the Paris based outfit recording three wins, one loss and one draw. A winning margin of more than two goals for the visitors against Rennes will result in handsome returns ($4) while a victory by a single-goal margin is good value ($3.60) as well.

While the results of the last five meetings does not look too favourably upon Rennes, they will take confidence from their La Coupe de France semi-final over PSG across two legs.

While they have only victory over PSG in regulation in the last five encounters, the hosts have managed to score at least once in each of those games. It is quite likely that Rennes could grab the lead on Monday and there are good returns ($5) for those who think PSG will record a come-from-behind win like they did in their Super Cup clash against the same opponents a few days ago.
