Edmilson tells Spurs, Arsenal target Coutinho: No place for you at Barcelona

Former Barcelona defender Edmilson says Philippe Coutinho should leave.

The Barca midfielder has been linked with a Premier League deadline day move to Arsenal or Tottenham.

And Edmilson told Foot Mercato, “Coutinho arrived with the pressure of being the most expensive player in the club’s history. In addition, it was when Andrés Iniesta left and he was asked to take his place.

“It was Arthur who played in (Andres) Iniesta’s place. (Ivan) Rakitic, Arthur, and (Sergi) Busquets were in the middle. Coutinho played from time to time on the left, to replace Ousmane Dembélé, when he was injured. And that’s not the position he played in Liverpool either. In England, Coutinho played the role of (Lionel) Messi. Right side, free. With Brazil, he plays as a 10. And he made a very good Copa America.

“Coutinho is a good player, but today there is no place for him in Barcelona.”
