Kane and Salah the picks to win Premier League’s Golden Boot

Even before the ball has found the back of the net this Premier League season, a few star players have quickly firmed as favourites to score the most goals.

Last season the Golden Boot was split three ways between Mohamed Salah, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sadio Mane with the trio all netting 22 times each.

Despite being someway behind in the top-scorer race last season with 17 league goals, Tottenham forward Harry Kane has emerged as an outright favourite to land the award this time, going at odds of $5 via Sportsbet.

Having been handicapped last season with minor injuries following World Cup duties with England, Kane has been able to rest up over the off-season and could be primed for a prolific season with Spurs. The 26-year-old has finished as the Premier League’s top scorer twice before and will be hungry to bag more goals in this campaign.

Liverpool star Salah meanwhile is eyeing a third straight Golden Boot and at $5.50 is the second best-backed player to take home the award. The Egyptian netted a stunning 32 goals in the 2017/18 season and will be hoping to score a handful more than he did last season. Salah has however had a busy off-season through international duty at the African Cup of Nations and may struggle to hit the ground running for the Reds.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sergio Aguero are then tied for third at $7 in the top-scorer market with both attackers more than capable of firing freely should they stay fit and their clubs provide them with the necessary chances.

Going down the list, Sadio Mane could prove good value at $12 while his Liverpool teammate Roberto Firmino looms as a real dark horse with odds of $31

Manchester United young gun Marcus Rashford will likely lead the line this season for the Red Devils and might be worth backing at $26.

Of the new Premier League arrivals, Everton striker Moise Kean is the best backed to score freely in England at $34.

After scoring 29 goals in the Championship last season to take home the Golden Boot with Norwich, Teemu Pukki isn’t tipped to replicate that feat in the top-flight with long odds of $81
