Andre Gomes wants to be Everton leader

Andre Gomes admits he wants to be a leader at Everton.

The midfielder completed his permanent move from Barcelona this week.

“Right now, the main goal for me is to help the team,” the 25-year-old said.

“We want to win all the games we can face, but have to go step by step. It’s about training and working hard and just getting better.

“The main goal for the team is the ambition to be in Europe. [That] has to be in my mindset also.

“I need to get better and to get better results and I am working on that to help the team reach that.”

The former Valencia star is now preparing for his second season on Merseyside and despite being just 25, he is aiming to become a leader in manager Marco Silva‘s team.

“I think that is normal,” Gomes said. “Fans now know me, the club knows me, the manager is expecting me to do the same things but to keep improving.”
