Mierzejewski hints at surprise A-League return

Former Sydney FC star Adrian Mierzejewski looks set for a shock return to the A-League.

The Polish winger won the Johnny Warren medal in the 2017/18 season with the Sky Blues before departing the club for Chinese side Changchun Yatai.

In his first season in the Chinese Super League, the attacker scored three goals and picked up eight assists across 19 appearances.

He’s continued that solid form this season with new side Chongqing Lifan, scoring three goals and contributing two assists from 10 games, but Mierzejewski has seemingly played his final game for Lifan after suggesting on social media he’s destined for the A-League.

Just where remains unknown though a return to Sydney FC would be difficult considering their recent signing of Kosta Barbaruses.

During his one season with the Sky Blues, Mierzejewski scored 13 goals and added nine assists across 24 league appearances.

The 32-year-old is contracted in China until February 2021.
