New Brisbane Roar coach Robbie Fowler has agreed to terms to sign two foreign strikers in a move that’s set to push a Young Socceroo out of the club.
The Covert Agent can reveal Fowler is offering Nicholas D’Agostino to other clubs with the former Liverpool attacker content with the strike force he’s putting together.
D’Agostino starred for the Young Socceroos earlier this year scoring both goals in a crucial 2-2 draw with South Korea which kept Australia‘s hopes of qualifying for the 2020 Olympics alive.
The 21-year-old made 13 A-League appearances for the Roar last season but failed to find the back of the net in a difficult campaign for the club.
In contrast, his Roar teammate Dylan Wenzel-Halls scored five goals in his debut A-League season to earn a long-term contract extension.
Fowler is set for a busy few months to rebuild a Roar side that saw over half of its squad depart at the end of a campaign in which they conceded an A-League record number of goals.
At his unveiling in April, Fowler made no secret of his intent to look to his homeland for players.
“I know which players I want to bring in,” Fowler said.
“I’ve spoken to a few players. I know my plans and I know what I want to do.
“I will be having plenty of chats with clubs in the UK.”
