Liverpool defender van Dijk: I’m glad I don’t play in Spain…

Liverpool star Virgil Van Dijk joked that he is happy he does not play in Spain.

Van Dijk was speaking after the Reds were thumped 3-0 by Barcelona in the Champions League semi final first leg at the Nou Camp.

While the Reds are still hopeful they can turn the game around, the Dutchman acknowledged the difficulty of defending against Barca.

He told reporters after the game: “When you come up against Messi and he produces his best form you can’t do anything.

“I’m grateful that I’m not in Spain and I don’t have to face him every season.

“He scored two goals and I leave very disappointed. He won the battle but not the war.”
