12 March 2019 – Dinamo Zagreb has become the first ever Croatian side to advanced to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Youth League after defeating Liverpool FC on penalties in Zagreb on Tuesday afternoon.

Watched in the stand by senior coach Nenad Bjelica, Dinamo Zagreb had the better of the first and if it was not for Liverpool keeper Jaros, the hosts could have gone into the break 2-0 up.

After missing a great chance early in the second spell, Dinamo fell behind when Duncan made no mistake from close range after good work from Glatzel.

Leon Šipoš equalised for Dinamo Zagreb in the 68th minute when he finished off from five metres out after great work by Antonio Marin. With the match ending at 1-1 after 90 minutes, the tie would be decided in a penalty shoot-out.

Keeper Dinko Horkaš, who was the hero in the Round of 16 penalty shoot-out victory, again played a big part, saving from Coyle and Duncan to give his side the win 5-4.

Dinamo Zagreb will meet the winner of the Chelsea v Montpellier clash which will be played in London tomorrow.

The quarterfinals will be played on 2/3 April with the semifinals being played on 26 April, at Colovray Stadium in Nyon. The final will take place at the same stadium on 29 April.
