Here’s how the Premier League team fared in the UEFA Team of the Year

UEFA Champions League

UEFA have finally concluded the voting to the fans’ team of the year and this year it is an evenly balanced contest between the Premier League and the La Liga.

“After more than a month of voting, the UEFA.com fans’ Team of the Year 2018 has now been revealed,” UEFA announced on their official website.

“More than 1.8 million votes were cast in all, with 85,167 new users registering with UEFA.com in order to have their say.”

Real Madrid top the list with four players in the team of the year.

Out of the four defenders, three of them play for Real Madrid – Marcelo, Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane.

While all three of them won the Champions League last season, Varane added one more trophy to the list by winning the World Cup with France.

Virgil Van Dijk is the fourth defender on the team of the year.

Luka Modric is perhaps the easiest selection on the list after having won the Champions League and then reaching the World Cup final with Croatia.

Chelsea have two representatives on the list with N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard.

Juventus have only one player on the list which is Cristiano Ronaldo but the Italian side have just piggybacked on to the list given Ronaldo’s success last season was with Real Madrid.
