Toronto jump to No. 2 Allocation Ranking via trade with San Jose

TRANSFER TRACKER: Trade

Toronto FC have jumped closer to the top of the Allocation Order, with the club announcing on Monday that they acquired the No. 2 spot from the San Jose Earthquakes.

San Jose received $75,000 in Targeted Allocation Money and $75,000 in General Allocation Money in exchange, along with Toronto’s No. 6 Allocation Order position.

For 2017’s MLS Cup winners, a disappointing follow-up campaign saw Toronto miss the playoffs entirely. They’ll be looking for ways to fortify their roster in the offseason, given the admitted fatigue from juggling multiple competitions this past season.

The Reds announced their initial offseason roster moves at the end of last month, deciding not to pick up contract options for Clint Irwin and Tosaint Ricketts while ending the contract of Ager Aketxe by mutual consent.
