Henry endures horror start as PSG flourish

Tops

PSG still undefeated

This was billed as the reunion of Neymar and Ganso; the two old friends of Santos going head-to-head. However, manager Thomas Tuchel decided to rest PSG’s star man and it turned out he was not needed to defeat a very poor Amiens.

Without really getting out of second gear, they scored five goals with Rabiot, Verratti and Di Maria in control. With 10 wins in 10 Ligue 1 games, PSG have surpassed their own record and are rested for Napoli in the Champions League

Marseille are serious

It was the game of the weekend. A southern derby between a Nice team with a returning Balotelli and Marseille, deprived of Thauvin. In a balanced match, Marseille were surprisingly resolute at the back and kept a second clean sheet. Having opened the scoring before half-time, Garcia’s men stayed composed in defence and did not throw themselves blindly into the attack to score the second. The result keeps Marseille above Lyon.

The first victory for Vahid Halilhodzic as manager. And what a win! At La Beaujoire, the Canaries won 4-0 against Toulouse. It wasn’t enough to get out of the relegation zone, Not enough to leave the place but there is now breathing space. As much as the result impressed, so too did their performance. They go to Amiens next week where they will look to keep this form up.

Flops

Unlucky Monaco

It was the first game of Thierry Henry’s tenure. With his first club, back in his home country. With the media watching, Monaco fell to a frustrating defeat in Strasbourg. Deprived of his two first-choice goalkeepers Diego Benaglio and Daniel Subasic, Henry saw the young Seydou Sy make a horrendous error for the opener. In the second half, Henry threw Samuel Grandsir on. A few seconds after his entrance, he was sent off. Nightmare start.

Dijon at a standstill

They had started the month of August with three victories, topping the table with PSG. Since then, nothing, or almost nothing. A draw and six defeats have relegated Dijon to 16th place. Against Lille at Gaston-Gerard, Dall’Oglio’s team had no idea how to stop Lille’s youthful intensity and struggled when they entered the final third.

Nîmes is diving slowly

They started the season by beating Marseille, frustrating PSG and holding Monaco. However, since late August, they have failed to win despite playing well. Again in Lyon, tjheyMore than 20 shots attempted but taken twice because of defensive largesse. Mute for four games, the men of Blaquart will have to find their effectiveness early in the season to rake points again.
