Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen sidelined until December through injury

Tottenham have announced that Jan Vertonghen will not return to action until December.

Vertonghen, 31, picked up a hamstring injury during the Premier League win against Huddersfield on Sept. 29.

After being monitored since, the club said they hope he will be fit to make a comeback in around two months.

Belgium manager Roberto Martinez announced the extent of the injury at a news conference on Friday when he said the defender could miss the November international break.

That led to Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino calling for better communication between clubs and national teams.

Vertonghen is set to miss the Premier League games against West Ham, Manchester City, Chelsea and potentially Arsenal as well as the Champions League games against PSV Eindhoven and Inter Milan.
