He is disputing an £89,000 fine received in December for failing to report for warm-weather training camp in Qatar.

Ben Arfa’s lawyer, Jean-Jacques Bertrand, said PSG fined him two days’ wages and an “unfulfilled ethics bonus” despite apparently receiving proof he was too ill to travel.

In April, Bertrand said the Frenchman, 31, had appealed to Ligue 1’s legal commission.

But it is his 17-month exile, according to Le Parisien, that could see Ben Arfa battle it out with PSG in court.

Ben Arfa played his final PSG game in April last year before being frozen out by then boss Unai Emery.

Team-mates Adrien Rabiot and Thiago Motta came out in support of him but their words fell on deaf ears.

The winger was left to play with the reserves and feared his absence would have reduced his value.

Bertrand said: “It was discrimination and unjustified isolation.”

A case is being drawn up and PSG apparently have until mid-October to respond, or Bertrand will file a summons.

Ben Arfa began his career in Lyon before moving to Marseille and Newcastle in 2011.

He excelled at Toon and helped them finish fifth in his first season.

But he fell out of favour and spent a season on loan at Hull in 2014 before rekindling his career at Nice, which earned him a move to PSG.

Ben Arfa scored on his Rennes debut against FK Jablonec but could not inspire his new team to victory over PSG on Sunday.
