Astro attempting to secure UEFA Champions League broadcasting rights before kickoff – Tech News

Astro has tweeted that it is trying to secure the broadcasting rights for the UEFA Champions League before kickoff time.

In a series of tweets from its official accounts – Stadium Astro and Astro – the company promised to keep viewers updated on the latest development.

Earlier, viewers had criticised Astro after a Stadium Astro Twitter administrator said the company will not be broadcasting this year’s Champions League matches.

In a Direct Message, the admin cited the increase in price of broadcasting rights as one of the reasons. The admin also said that if the company bought the rights then customers would have to pay more just to watch the Champions League games, and ended the message by asking the user what the company should do.

Stadium Astro has apologised for the exchange.

However, as of press time, Astro has removed details of its Supersports package from the Stadium Astro website. An image of a cat goalkeeper appears if visitors click on the Get Astro Sports Pack link.
