Italy international Mario Balotelli has reportedly been fined by OGC Nice for arriving back from pre-season overweight.
The 27-year-old returned to Nice after his reported move to Ligue 1 outfit Marseille broke down after contract talks.
Upon his return, the striker was forced to train alone before he eventually signed a new deal with Nice.
Nice President Jean-Pierre Rivere did not outright confirm the punishment, but he did allude to the striker’s condition at the start of the season, according to the reports in Italy.
“Mario will have a great season because we’ll put him in the best condition and because he’s a great player,” Rivere told Nice Matin, according to FootballItalia.
“However, Nice don’t have the habit of treating certain players differently. Mario played himself offside.”
