Ante Rebic signs new Eintracht Frankfurt contract until 2022

Ante Rebic has signed a new contract at Eintracht Frankfurt, with the Croatia international committing his future to the club until 2022.

Rebic, 24, had been linked with Manchester United, Bayern Munich — managed by former Frankfurt coach Niko Kovac — and Sevilla.

“Ante certainly was one of the positive figures of the World Cup and we must not hide the fact that there was interest,” Frankfurt sporting executive Fredi Bobic said.

“It speaks for Eintracht Frankfurt that we were able to keep such a strong player, someone you can call a shooting star. He was courted by a few top clubs and received the one or the other offer which was economically better for him.”

Rebic has been at Frankfurt for the past two seasons, spending the first year at the Waldstadion on loan from Fiorentina and joining on a permanent transfer last year.

Rebic, who starred in Russia as Croatia finished runners-up, scored twice as Frankfurt won the DFB-Pokal against Bayern Munich.

“Ante is an identification figure for many Eintracht fans, not least because of his two wonderful goals in the cup,” Bobic added.

“With his dynamics and pace, he is a great fit for our coach Adi Hutter’s system. And it was important to keep his quality in our ranks.”
