Majeed Waris returns to French Ligue 1 on loan with Nantes

The Ghana international has returned to the French top-flight in a bid to have regular playing time in the 2018-19 season

Nantes have signed Majeed Waris on a season-long loan deal from Porto.

Less than eight months after ditching the French Ligue 1 for a move to Portugal, the Canaries have completed the temporary transfer of the forward and also hold the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

Waris was restricted to just five appearances in the Portuguese Primeira Liga side last campaign during his six-month loan spell with Porto.

The Black Stars attacker had previously turned out for Swedish club BK Hacken, Russia’s Spartak Moscow and Trabzonspor before teaming up with Lorient in August 2015.

Waris was the top scorer in the Swedish league with 23 goals in 2012 and he made his international debut for Ghana in a friendly encounter against Chile in February 2012.
