Gareth Southgate snubbed Joe Hart for the 2018 World Cup

Nice’s No1 shirt was worn by uncapped Argentine Walter Benitez last season as they finished eighth.

But the 25-year-old would have little argument losing his place to Hart, considering the Englishman’s experience and medal collection.

Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon are also interested in whisking Hart away from his Premier League rejection.

The Primeira Liga giants want to land Hart this summer after the goalkeeper was snubbed by England boss Gareth Southgate.

The 30-year-old suffered a nightmare season on loan at West Ham, having spent the previous year with Italian side Torino.

And Hart still has no future at the Etihad, with Pep Guardiola using a particular style of goalie in order to emphasise his team’s possession game.

However, the keeper could yet find himself at a big club this summer, with Sporting said to be keen on securing his services.

The former champions lost their Portuguese title to Porto and also missed out on a Champions League spot with Benfica taking second.

It’s believed Jorge Jesus is looking to shake things up in order to get his misfiring squad back on track.

And Hart could arrive in Lisbon as serious competition for Rui Patricio, Portugal’s No 1.

Hart still dreams of returning to the England set-up and believes joining Sporting could help him oust the likes of Jordan Pickford, Jack Butland and Nick Pope.

Additionally, SunSport understands that City’s fierce rivals Manchester United are considering a shock swoop as they expect to lose Sergio Romero.
