New Manchester United midfielder Fred did not train with Brazil on Friday as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury, sources have told ESPN FC.

The 25-year-old was forced out of the session on Thursday after a collision with Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro. He sat out training on Friday — Brazil’s last session in London before they fly to Vienna — to work alone with medical staff.

United announced on Tuesday they have agreed a deal, which sources have told ESPN FC is worth around £47 million, with Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk for Fred.

He became Jose Mourinho’s first signing of the summer following swiftly by 19-year-old full-back Diogo Dalot, who has moved to Old Trafford in a £19m move from Porto.
