TRANSFER LATEST: Sunderland’s record signing is attracting Premier League & Ligue 1 interest

Didier Ndong joined Premier League Watford on loan on deadline in January but his spell with the Hornets turned into a nightmare, with the Gabon international not featuring for the club – bar three appearances as an unused substitute.

That failed Watford move has not stopped teams from wanting to sign Ndong though, with three clubs hoping to sign the 23-year-old.

According to a source close to the player, speaking to isport.ga, Cardiff City, Lyon and another unnamed club are all interested in his signature:

One thing is certain, Didier will not play next season in Sunderland, a club relegated to the 3rd Division. Currently there are three serious tracks. Cardiff City, which has just been promoted to the Premier League, and where Bruno Ecuélé Manga plays, is one of the most serious tracks. The agents of the players are activated. But there is also Lyon who are interested in the profile of the player. Unfortunately Didier Ndong does not wish to return to France.

Unfortunately due to his less than stellar displays in the red and white and his failure at Watford, Stewart Donald is likely to see a poor return on the club’s investment in the player.

David Moyes spent £13.6m on Ndong when he signed from Lorient in August 2016 and we’ll be lucky to see any club offer even half of that fee.
