Breaking – Chelsea Star Holds Talks With Ligue 1 Giants

The Blues goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has reportedly held transfer talks with French champions Paris Saint Germain according to reporter Kristoff Terreur.

After Chelsea has finished fifth on the Premier League table, the West London club is bound to endure a rather difficult summer transfer window. With no Champions League football, the key players at Chelsea will be looking to move away from Stamford Bridge in order to compete in Europe’s elite. And shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois has already begun planning for his future away from the FA Cup winners.

Inside News-

On the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast, Belgian journalist Kristoff Terreur has confirmed that Courtois has held transfer negotiations with PSG amid a summer move to the Parc Des Princes, “He has held talks with PSG. PSG’s director of football has been in London to talk about the project with Courtois.”

However, Terreur also suggested that his national compatriot could leave for his former club Atletico Madrid as his wife and two children live in the Spanish capital, “He could go back to Atletico Madrid if Jan Oblak leaves. At the moment I don’t see him signing a new deal with Chelsea unless he doesn’t get his transfer”

There were earlier reports claiming that Courtois is stalling contract extensions with Chelsea because he is desperate to reunite with his family in Spain. The 26 year old Belgian has helped Chelsea to win two Premier League titles and the League Cup. Most recently, Courtois won the FA Cup and produced some splendid saves in order to keep Chelsea’s clean sheet in the final.

Courtois has established himself as one of the best keepers in the world and has attracted interest from Real Madrid for quite a while. But the Los Blancos will now face stiff competition from PSG in the race for Courtois’ signature whose Chelsea contract expires at the end of next season.

Author’s Take-

I think that Courtois will not sign a contract extension with the Blues and the club will have to sell him in the next few transfer windows or else let him leave for free. But the two Madrid clubs hold the advantage to signing Courtois because he has revealed time and again that he wants to be near his family.
