Debève: ‘Calm, focused and patient’

Toulouse FC coach Michaël Debève is hoping his side can produce another dominant display of AC Ajaccio in Sunday’s return leg of their relegation play-off following a 3-0 win in Corsica on Wednesday night.

 AC Ajaccio 0 – 3 Toulouse FC

Olivier Pantaloni (AC Ajaccio coach): “When you look back over the evening, we conceded three goals and lost two players to injury. I don’t think  that happened by chance; it was the culmination of a terrible week and I’m sorry for the players, who deserved to play in better conditions [the match was played behind closed doors following fan disturbances at Ajaccio’s play-off win over Le Havre on Sunday]. The lads did all they could at the end of an awful week. We’ll look to finish our season by our giving our best possible showing in Toulouse on Sunday. But we need to be honest: it will be very hard to turn things around at The Stadium.”

Michaël Debève (Toulouse FC coach): “I’m very satisfied with what the lads produced tonight. We prepared well for this play-off. We were calm, focused and patient in the first half, and we were rewarded from set pieces, which made the match easier for us. We left Ajaccio no chances, but we have to remain wary, as there is still a match to be played. We want to finish things off well at The Stadium so we can reward the fans and celebrate with them. If we win the match, we will lock down our place in Ligue 1, which has been our objective all along. Once survival is clinched, I will talk with the club president and he will make a decision [about Debève’s future at the helm of the senior team].”
