Transfer Talk – Real Madrid plan to bring Alvaro Morata back from Chelsea

Clubs are slowly turning their eyes toward the summer window, and Transfer Talk has the updates on all the latest rumours.

Real want Morata back

One big departure at Stamford Bridge this summer could be Alvaro Morata, with Real Madrid shock suitors again, having previously re-signed the player from Juventus. The European champions could take Morata back as their Plan B, after Karim Benzema’s struggles should they not land Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich.

The Spain striker joined the Blues for £60m last summer but has failed to settle despite a promising start to life in the Premier League.

While Los Blancos see Morata as a contingency option, even if they do land Lewandowski, Chelsea could still sell their club record signing, according to the Express, as the German club see him as an ideal replacement for their No.9.

Chelsea themselves will be in the hunt for Lewandowski, to complicate matters, after the player hired super agent Pini Zahavi earlier this season. Owner Roman Abramovich’s close ties with Zahavi have fuelled speculation they could work on a deal to bring the 29-year-old to London.

Arsenal plan youth movement in defence

Arsenal are targeting one of Europe’s finest young defensive talents in Matthijs de Ligt, reports the Mirror.

The Ajax starlet, 18, has attracted a host of Gunners scouts to watch his progress in recent weeks, with Barcelona also known admirers.

Greece international Panagiotis Retsos is another target with the 19-year-old establishing himself quickly at Bayer Leverkusen after a £15 million move from Olympiakos last year.

New head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is carefully identifying a new generation of stars for the Emirates after another disappointing campaign under Arsene Wenger.

Chelsea target Lascelles

Chelsea will also target Newcastle star Jamaal Lascelles this summer after being impressed by the English centre-back’s leadership under Rafael Benitez, according to the Mirror.

Having lost John Terry last summer and with Gary Cahill dropping to the bench this season, the Blues are missing an English presence through the spine of their team.

Should Antonio Conte remain at Stamford Bridge, he could welcome the 24-year-old in a £30m deal.

The Magpies will be desperate to hold on to the former England Under-21 international and with Benitez on the verge of guiding them to safety, they will be in a strong bargaining position to do so.

Tap-ins

– Juventus are entering the race to sign Schalke star Max Meyer, claim Tuttosport.

The Bundesliga club will likely lose the 22-year-old on a free transfer this summer with Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, AC Milan and Roma all showing an interest too.

– Liverpool will be relieved to learn that Real Madrid and Barcelona do not currently have an interest in signing Mo Salah, claims the Express.

The Egyptian has now scored 37 goals for the Reds this season and speculation had begun over a potential £200m move to Spain, but Barca will not have the funds to pursue another superstar after Antoine Griezmann and Los Blancos also have other targets at this stage.

– Man United will consider sacrificing Anthony Martial this summer in order to raise funds and make room for Gareth Bale, reports the Mirror.

The Real Madrid star scored a double in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Las Palmas, but has endured a tough season at the Bernabeu with injuries, while Jose Mourinho has been unable to provide Martial with a consistent run of games to showcase his star potential.
