Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the Whisper.

Here are today’s top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk  for all the latest gossip.

Claudio Marchisio to New York City FC

Marchisio could become the next big-name footballer to try his luck in Major League Soccer. Italian newspaper Libero reports the 32-year-old will make a decision on his future in the coming weeks. His contract at Juventus runs out in the summer, and signing a new deal hasn’t been ruled out. But a move away from the Allianz Stadium is looking likely as he’s fallen down the pecking order at his current club. New York City FC are reportedly ready to pounce if he confirms he is leaving.

Jack Wilshere to Everton

Everton are leading the way should Wilshere depart Arsenal this summer, according to the Daily Star. The midfielder is out of contract in the summer and would ideally stay at the Emirates, but his future is uncertain as he’s been dogged by injuries in recent years. Arsenal have offered him a contract heavily based on appearances and the 26-year-old is said to be unhappy with those terms. Sam Allardyce’s side have reportedly made their interest in him known, and Wilshere is thought to be open to a move to Goodison Park.

Bruno Fernandes to Tottenham Hotspur

Sporting Lisbon midfielder Fernandes is reportedly a Tottenham Hotspur transfer target for the summer. Portuguese sports daily A Bola claims Mauricio Pochettino is in the market for another midfielder and is eyeing the 23-year-old. But it is unlikely Daniel Levy will be willing to part with the £87 million needed to meet his release clause, given that the Spurs chairman is a renowned tough negotiator. It would be well above the club’s transfer record, which was the purchase of Davinson Sanchez for £42m from Ajax last summer.

Miralem Pjanic to Paris Saint-Germain

According to various reports in Italy, Pjanic is a Paris Saint-Germain transfer target. Corriere della Sera say the Ligue 1 leaders are proposing a five-year contract worth £7m a season after tax, almost twice as much as the Juventus midfielder currently earns. Calciomercato claim the Serie A side could be tempted to sell him for around £55m and that the player would be interested in a move should PSG appoint Antonio Conte or current Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri as their next manager.

Kasper Dolberg to Barcelona

With Paco Alcacer failing to properly provide quality cover for Luis Suarez or Lionel Messi, Barcelona could turn to Dolberg, according to Don Balon. The Ajax striker was linked with a move to the Catalan giants last summer, and they could resurrect their interest when the season is over. Barcelona are expected to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid which will reinforce their attacking arsenal, so the whisper has been given a relatively low score on our index.
